Under the EU Funding Scheme "Cultural Cooperation with Developing Countries", Prof. Martina Ghosh-Schellhorn (TAS) and Prof. Maximilian Herberger (IFRI) have been awarded stewardship of the EuropeAid/DDH CULT/2005/113-143 – Transcultura grant for the full period of two years (EuropeAid). Further Transcultura members directly participating as cooperative partners in the EU project are Prof. Alain Le Pichon (Université Paris 8), Prof. G. Prabhu-Gaunkar (IIT, Mumbai), Prof. Zhao Tingyang (CASS, Beijing), and Prof. Moussa Sow (ISH, Bamako). The co-ordinator of the EU project at Saarland University is TAS programme director Prof. M. Ghosh-Schellhorn, along with Dr. Tinka Reichmann, Steering Committee member Prof. M. Herberger, and Dr. Soenke Zehle. The set aims of this project are enumerated here: a) Chief among them is the setting up of a pilot Observatoire Transculturel Européen (OTE), at Merzig, state of Saarland (Germany), housing the International Transcultura Library and providing scholars space to work and interact with peers b) The organisation of scholarly meetings dealing with key concepts in the pursuit of cross-cultural reciprocal knowledge c) Conceptualization of study programmes on cross-cultural knowledge with an emphasis on transdisciplinarity d) The induction of school pupils into issues of cross-cultural communication and its relevance to their lives e) The integration of cross-cultural dialogue in the public sphere f) Increasing visibility of the main findings of Transcultura research g) Furthering reciprocal understanding: International Conference in Merzig (July 2006) and in China (March 2007) Last update: July 2006 Martina Ghosh-Schellhorn |
